Project ownership
How product updates preserve your work
Understand the difference between the product foundation and the content you own.
Know what belongs to you
Your pages, article text, media, form responses and project settings are part of your project. Kottoko’s foundation provides the reusable application code and contracts around them. Keeping these responsibilities clear makes an update easier to review.
Review before changing
A safe update begins with a backup and a list of changes. Check whether the new version affects your extensions, configured services or data shape. Run the project checks and preview important visitor and owner paths before accepting the result.
Keep a recovery path
Do not treat a successful code change as proof that content and data are safe. Keep a restorable copy, check the result after the update and retain a way back if a check fails. The public website demonstrates these principles; it does not perform an update on your project.
